I remember thinking to myself when Lady Gaga and her out-of-this-world looks first came on the scene, ‘Wow, whoever gets to do that to her face must be having tons of shogasms.’ (“show-gasms” a term I coined last year defining when creative people burst with creativity resulting in a rock-star-type-high).
It was only recently that I discovered the man behind the madness of Lady Gaga’s inspiring makeup looks, and who is certainly no rookie in this industry. Mr. Billy Brasfield (or simply, Billy B) is that man.
Billy has cultivated some of the most memorable makeup looks to date and his talent goes far beyond what he can do with a brush. Starting his career in cosmetics at Macy’s back in the 80’s, Billy has proven time and time again what it means to be a makeup artist. And I ADORE him for that. To write about the admiration I have for his work (and I’m sure if I knew him personally, the admiration I would have for his personality) would take faaaar too long and most likely bore you to no end so instead, take a look at the pictures and become a fan of Billy on Facebook.

We don’t know what’s going on with Santino, whose appearances this season have been sporadic at best, but things aren’t looking good for him because as a judge, Billy blows him out of the water. He has real critiques to make and it only makes sense to have a makeup artist permanently ensconced on the panel.
